On the flip side, as Kelly writes, “Nothing animates people like chasing down a dream.” The hope of a better future fuels people to give their best effort.”
I started to get excited as I began to ask myself about how this could be applied to the church.  The thought of many people unleashing their dreams within the church seemed like an incredible bundle of unlimited potentials and possibilities.
This led me back to my earlier article on dreams and I realized that I had only scratched the surface of dreams.  While the idea of being a steward is still dynamic, the steps of how to be that good steward were just beginning to take shape in my mind.

Text Box: In July of 2006 I wrote an article entitled Stewardship of Your Dreams.  At that time I believed that we all should be deeply committed to being good stewards of those dreams; call them ambitions that come from very deep within us.  To share or reveal those dreams to others was a risky thing to do, but we should be bold and fearless concerning them.
I wrote that there were three elements to dreams.  The first was that they were something that had never happened to or around us before.  The second was that the dream was something we desperately wanted to see happen.  The last characteristic was that the dream was something from deep inside of us.
Over the last week, this subject of our dreams has been taking on a more defined perspective for me.  I have seen the concept take on a stronger and deeper quality and importance.  Through this process, which is still ongoing, I am feeling more impassioned about building God’s Kingdom and helping others to do the same.




Text Box: A catalyst for this came in the form of a newsletter I receive through email from John Maxwell’s Maximum Impact group.  The name of the newsletter is Leadership Wired.  A regular part of the email is a book review focused on the topic of leadership.  Usually the books are business-focused leadership, but I find that many times the concepts have direct and helpful applications in the church world.
The book being reviewed in this issue of the newsletter was called The Dream Manager by Matthew Kelly (Hyperion, 2007).  To quote from the newsletter “Kelly’s book tells the story of Admiral Janitorial Company, which, in reaction to sky-high turnover rates, touches upon the novel idea of hiring a Dream Manager. Helping employees plan for vacations, become homeowners, and manage finances, the Dream Manager brings a renewed sense of purpose to the company. Employee turnover plummets and profits soar as workers respond to the sincere efforts of management to assist their pursuit of dreams.”

Ephesians 3:20-21 talks about God being “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”  Pastor Dave’s article about Dreams talks about that “larger than life” kind of dream.

What is it in your life that you would ask God to do that would be immeasurably more than you could imagine.  Are your dreams larger than life?  I hope so!

I can’t help but think that what I would  dare to imagine is that our children would all come to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior, and live a life that is pleasing to Him.

 

 

As young children and into their teens, they were all raised in church.  They all memorized scripture and knew what it meant to be a Christian.  Yet some of them are not walking with Jesus today. 

Somehow, asking God to bring them back to Himself, is more than I can imagine.  We pray for them daily, and I know it is up to each one to make a personal commitment.    But it can’t hurt to hold them up in prayer!

What’s on your heart today?  Are you serious in asking God to do “immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine”?  Don’t forget the rest of the verse… “according to his power that is at work within us.”  Is His power at work within you today?
