Text Box: As I look back at 2007 I can only ask one thing, so what’s next? It is an amazing thing to follow the Lord. For Judy and me it has been an incredible ride. For the third Christmas in a row we have found ourselves living in a different house, in a different city, in a different state. Mom calls me her nomad son.
We have an awesome opportunity in our pastorate at our current church, Rosewood Lane Church of the Nazarene. The church is full of people who are passionately in love with Jesus Christ. God has been gathering faithful and talented people at our church, who have a vision of growth, both in numbers and in the Spirit.
In November we were blessed to be a part of a Kingdom Building Revival at the Harney County Church of the Nazarene in Eastern Oregon. We saw people respond and come to the altar, making commitments to follow Christ. You could feel the Holy Spirit moving among the people, building them up in their faith.
In January, February, and March we were blessed to be involved in the Upward Basketball and Cheerleading ministry in Nampa, Idaho. The ministry was a cooperative effort between the Text Box: Nampa College Church, the Nampa First Church, and the Bethel Church. It was wonderful to work with pastors Daryl Johnson, Kent Conrad, and Doug Wilson. There were tons of other people who blessed me with the opportunity to minister with them and, of course, the kids. To see the lives of kids, kindergarten through sixth grade, impacted for Christ. Upward is an evangelism program. Each week at practice the kids were given a bible study by their coaches and at each game a testimony was given at halftime. If you are looking for a program to reach the children in your community, I highly recommend Upward Sports.
In an amazing act of love and charity, the Karcher Church of Nampa, sent a crew of over 20 people to come to our church in Utah in November. In a fast and furious three days, they helped us to give our church a facelift, repainting the outside of the church building, while cleaning, doing repairs, and some painting of the interior. While the amount of work these folks Text Box: accomplished would amaze you, even more incredible is that they did all this work at their cost.
So what is next? What incredible things can God have in store for 2008?
But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.
Matthew 26:64
Will 2008 be the year that Jesus returns? If so, there is an awful lot of work to do. There are so many people in my life and within my influence that need Christ. Could it be that we all need a greater sense of urgency this year for the Kingdom? I think that we do. So, why not consider it your most important resolution to make this the year you bring as many as you possibly can to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
May God richly bless you as you pursue His good, pleasing, and perfect will for your life!

So, What’s Next?

2 Timothy 1:7

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.

Will you join me this year in making an “after New Year’s resolution” to be more like Christ?.  When Jesus Christ walked this earth, He went about His Father’s business.  Shouldn’t we do the same?  How many people have you talked to about Christ during the last year?  If you are like the average person, and are honest with yourself, you probably have not talked to very many non-Christians about what Christ has done in your life.

Spiritual Resolutions—Change for the New Year

I want to do more to build God’s kingdom this year.  I want to overcome my timidity and learn to speak out for Christ.  I want to be so in-tuned with Him that I hear His voice when He prompts me, and be ready to give a reason for the hope that lies within me.

Do you have that hope?  I pray that you do!
