Text Box: While the job seemed impossible, especially since the walls had been down for over one hundred years, Nehemiah encouraged and taught them that they simply needed to turn to the Lord and He would strengthen them for the task. Because they did this, they were able to have the strength to accomplish what was seemingly impossible.
For nothing is impossible with God.
Luke 1:37
Are you facing a challenge that seems impossible? Does your challenge seem to deflate or discourage you? Let me advise you to turn to the Lord, just like the people did in the days of Nehemiah. Let God lead you and bless you with His joy and then see strength follow.
God bless you as you serve and build His Kingdom!
Text Box: Let’s start this article backwards. Rather than head straight into the subject of gaining strength let’s discuss how to avoid losing it. While it is good to gain strength, it is also important that we learn how to keep from losing it.
Being negative in your thoughts, words, and even actions, takes away strength from you. When you are consumed and become instinctively negative about your church and/or about church leadership you actually find yourself less able to affect positive change. Even though you know what kind of change you want to see, if you remain negative you find that you do not have the strength or ability to cause that change. Why?
for the joy of the Lord is your strength
Nehemiah 8:10

Text Box: While we make take pleasure in many things in life, it is only in the Lord that we find real joy. The Lord reserves for Himself the pleasure of instilling our lives with joy. He does this for us as we follow Him. In being obedient and following His plan for our lives we find that He rewards us with an abundance of joy.
The joy that comes from the Lord is far superior from any joy we receive from anything or anyone else. The joy of the Lord is deep and sustaining. It is not dependent on any emotional ‘boosts’ or highs in our life. It is not something that we can fabricate, duplicate, or recreate. It is found to be only from Him.
This joy of the Lord provides strength for our lives. The remnant of Jews in Jerusalem, under the leadership of Nehemiah, was able to rebuild the walls and gates of the city in just fifty-two days. Did I mention that they were able to do it in just fifty-two days?

February 3, 2008

What a very busy week!  Have you ever had one of those weeks that was so busy you didn’t feel like you could squeeze another thing in?  That’s how this week has felt.  It has been busy, but in a very good way.  The Lord has been speaking to us loud and clear this week!

It’s amazing how God will reveal things to you, if you only wait for His timing!  We, as humans, have a very hard time waiting for God’s timing most of the time.  We want to run ahead, or tell God how to do things.  At least that’s how I feel most of the time.  However, if I sit back and be patient, I will see how it would be better to wait for the Lord’s timing.

There are lots of great people in Utah!  And God loves those who are not walking with the Lord just as much as He loves you and me!

Is that a revelation to you?  I hope it is not!  God loves everyone on this earth—no matter what they have done, or not done.

He loves them as much as He loves me.  He wants each person to know about his Love for them.  He wants us to love each other as He loves us.

That unconditional love is sometimes difficult for us to live out.  If we consider what Jesus would do in each situation we come across, and with each person we meet during the day, don’t you think we might act differently towards some people?

Why don’t we always do that?   I can’t answer that question.  I’m not sure!  We should always consider what Jesus would do.  We should always pattern our lives around what He would have us do.

I want to make that my mission in life.  My goal is to do what Jesus would do.  What is your goal in life?  Is it something that Jesus would be proud of?  Is it God’s time for you to set a goal to let Him love people through you?
